IT'S ALL ABOUT FLUTES ... Teaching, sales and repairs ... all in the one place!

Looking for a good quality flute for your son or daughter?

In over thirty years of flute teaching I've seen so many students struggle to reach their potential simply because their flute isn't up to the task.

It's my goal to make sure all these young musicians get the best start, with the right instrument.

Buying a flute can be daunting. A brand new instrument is nice, but expensive -  especially if you're not sure if your young player is going to stick at it.

A second hand flute is a more sensible option, but how do you know if you're getting good quality at a fair price?

We specialise in providing quality, refurbished Yamaha student flutes,  perfect for either new starters or more advanced players looking to upgrade. All our instruments are fully serviced, cleaned and polished, and ready to play ... beautifully.

Need Flute Lessons?

We can provide flute lessons here at our home in Kambah, Canberra...... Just get in touch to make arrangements.
$37 for a half hour individual lesson, or you can learn with a friend to keep costs down if you prefer.

At this time of year, it is common for students who have just joined the high school band program in schools to be struggling to get the correct lip position and to get a proper clear sound from the flute. It's so important to be shown the right technique from the start, please get in touch for some help.

Repairs and Servicing

Is your flute not playing as well as you would like? Bring it over to The Flute Shed. It may just need a simple adjustment, or a service. We'll have it playing its best in no time, and we keep our prices very competitive. Why not get in touch?

We now operate a flute Drop In Clinic at our home in Kambah.

Flutes are quite needy when it comes to maintenance.  When I'm teaching in schools, students come up to me and say things like:

My flute won't work - it was playing last night!
The notes are not playing clearly and I don't know why
My G won't play
or ëven ...
This bit just dropped off!
... you get the picture.

Thankfully I have my emergency tools with me and calm can be restored. These sorts of problems happen quite frequently.

In my experience the most common time for your flute to go wrong is just before an important school performance, exam or concert! It's often nothing serious, and can often be fixed quickly,  you just need someone who knows what to do, and is available at short notice. So this is why we are opening the Drop In Clinic.

So if you have a flute problem, send us a text. We even operate evenings and weekends, and can often give you a time to drop in the same day. You can wait in comfort while we take it to the bench. If it can't be fixed on the spot, we'll advise you what to do, or book it in for further work.
